There comes a moment, when the kids are grown, the house is quieter, and you’re left standing there, right at the edge of something new. When Parenting Changes Shape is a day to lean into that moment, to pause by the ocean, and let yourself feel the wonder, the heartache, and the joy of this shift. This isn’t just about letting go—it’s about moving forward, about discovering what’s next for you. Together, we’ll explore how to carry all that love, all that history, forward into a fresh chapter. So come, sit by the sea, and let’s talk about what happens after they leave and you’re left to redefine who you are and what your life looks like now.

This day could be for you if ...

  • You’re on the edge of an empty nest, feeling both excitement and loss in equal measure.
  • You’re ready to explore the deeper purpose of this new season and how to find meaning beyond parenting.
  • You want to build a relationship with your adult children that’s as vibrant and supportive as ever—just with a new rhythm.
  • You’re wondering, “Who am I beyond being a parent?” and you want to reconnect with your own dreams and desires.
  • You crave a space where you can process, share, and reflect with others who get it.

The Format: Here's how it unfolds

Details, Details, Details

  • What to Bring: Comfortable clothing, a notebook and pen for reflections, an open heart, and a ceramic piece for Kintsugi (extras will be available).
  • Location & Timing: Beecher Place at Crescent Beach, from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • Bring lunch money : We'll have some great snacks and drinks and lunch will be on your own
  • Parking: Free parking available throughout Crescent Beach

What to expect:

  • Guided Reflections: We'll walk through the waves of change together, giving space to both the letting go and the stepping forward.
  • Discovery Sessions: A time to reconnect with the “you” who’s still there, who’s ready for whatever’s next, who has desires and dreams beyond parenthood.
  • Story Circles: Small groups for exchanging stories and building connection
  • Journaling: Exercises to explore who you are and envision the next chapter with a sense of openness and possibility.
  • Community Building: The chance to be in the company of others who know what it’s like, who’ve walked or are walking this same road.
  • Personal Commitment: You’ll end the day by setting intentions, defining what you want this new chapter to look like.

The Benefits

What’s the “why” here? Why take a day to do this? Well, because you’ll:

  • Get a fresh perspective on your evolving role as a parent, finding purpose in the shift, not just closure.
  • Discover parts of yourself that may have been quiet or hidden, and reconnect with those dreams, those passions, that voice that’s all yours.
  • Learn new ways to engage with your adult children, embracing a relationship that’s based on love and respect for who they’re becoming.
  • Find healing and strength in the stories and experiences of others who are also on this journey.
  • Leave with a renewed sense of direction, of possibility—feeling ready, not just for the empty nest, but for the fullness it can hold.

What you'll walk away with

At the end of the day, you’ll walk away with:

  • A deeper understanding of this new season in your life and a sense of the power that comes with embracing change.
  • A set of personal reflections and commitments to guide you as you move forward.
  • Ideas for nurturing meaningful, balanced relationships with your adult children.
  • A community of people who understand, who’ll be there to support you beyond this day.
  • And perhaps most importantly—a sense of peace, of readiness, and maybe even a bit of excitement about the life that’s waiting to unfold.
